How far in advance should we begin planning our Sports Tour?

Planning a successful tour takes time and we recommend a minimum of 1 year for an International Sports Tours and generally 6 - 9 months for Interstate Sports Tours.

Can we choose the schools we'd like to visit on our tour?

Once your enquiry has been received, we will contact you to discuss your requirements and a preliminary itinerary will be prepared. We can organise to approach schools that you nominate or we can arrange visits for you. We have extensive contacts within the UK, South Africa and New Zealand school systems and we will ensure that the standard of the teams that you play is appropriate to skills level.

We suggest your team plays 3 matches per week and as a typical tour lasts 3 weeks you will generally play 7 - 8 games. Many countries have tournaments and festivals that can be included in your itinerary. These vary in length from a few days to a week. Will there be time for sightseeing and social activities?

In between matches we will organise and pre-book excursions to local attractions for your group. Admission fees and travel costs are included in our price. This leaves staff and students free to enjoy the sights.

Post tour excursions, of a few days, are very popular and allow everyone to relax at the end of a hectic time.

How do we organise fund raising or sponsorship for our sports tour?

We can provide you with information on fund raising and sponsorship for your prospective tours.

Do teachers or school staff have to pay for their own flights and accommodation?

We provide one free place for teachers or other supervisory staff for every 10 students. Obviously the greater the number of passengers the better the travel deals.

Are there any VISA, Passport or Health requirements?

Every person will need a passport that is valid for at least 6 months before they depart. If anyone in your party is traveling on a different passport then please advise us, so that we can make the necessary arrangements.

VISA requirements vary from country to country. We will give you the appropriate information about visas once you have finalised you booking.

Every participant must have adequate health and travel insurance before they travel. Some countries may require inoculations before entry.

What payment arrangements do you have?

Once you have finalised your itinerary and tour programme we will require a 10% non-refundable deposit, which will be deducted from the final cost of your tour, to secure your booking. 40% of the total tour cost is payable 3 months prior to your departure with the remainder payable 6 weeks before embarking on you tour.

When will we receive our air tickets and itinerary?

3 weeks prior to your date of departure we will send you a final tour package, which will include your tickets, itinerary and any last minute information about your destination/s.

Will someone from SSTI be on hand for the duration of our tour?

There will be a SSTI representative at the airport to see you off and make sure that your departure goes smoothly. We will assist with check-in procedures and answer any last minute questions you might have. Transport to the airport can be arranged if required.

On arrival at your destination there will a SSTI representative to meet you and direct you to your waiting transport. All SSTI tour leaders are equipped with a mobile phone and can be contacted at any stage of your tour.

Will we be able to view results and photo's of tournaments played?

Yes, photo's and results for each tour will be placed in a secure area on our website for the school community and parents to view and keep themselves updated.
